Hazards to Look Out For
The following are important hazards that are often overlooked or not understood. For details on each of these hazards, see Other Legal Issues in the Directory section of this site.

Limitation periods are all or nothing; pay attention to them. They are the time periods set by law within which you must start a lawsuit on your personal injury claim or forever lose your right to do so.

Be sure to review all possible insurance policies that may be available to you. If you don’t make claims at the right time, you may lose more than just one policy’s coverage.

Pay attention if ICBC labels your claim as a “low velocity claim” – you may have to consult a lawyer immediately to find out how to get your claim resolved.

Consider whether Workers' Compensation coverage applies to your situation.

Don’t assume receipts and other records are only useful for claiming payments. For example, they may also prove where you were at a given time and if you followed treatment. |
